There’s something about Christmas lights that bring out the child in all of us.
Or when we’re camping, maybe the redneck (rural American??).
Perhaps some of both?
Since we’ve already established that I am definitely more of a “glamper” than true naturalist, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that I find a campsite strung with Christmas (or other cool) lights to be very, very exciting.
We’re already outside enjoying a bonfire whilst fending off mosquitos, and as the sun sets, lights on campers and tents only add to the fun, carefree night time environment. In some ways, it takes me back to bonfires at summer camp, boys I had crushed on, and sneaking glances behind our counselors back. Summer camp was serious business, but now as I look back at it, it was probably because the darkness + romantic lighting created the right environment for it.
And the alcohol certainly doesn’t hurt this memory state.
Naturally, this put me on the hunt for cute lights that weren’t Christmas lights, but that were also affordable. Although I haven’t narrowed it down to the ones that I want just yet, here are my top picks:
These totally waterproof lanterns are 3 inches tall, which is perfect for indoor or outdoor use. The warm white color goes really well the the light of the bonfire and is not glaring, just gentle enough so you can see to get in and out of your tent or camper. They’re also really lightweight so they won’t put any extra stress on whatever you decide to hang them on. And did I mention that they’re pretty?
Each set of these cute lantern lights comes with 5 lights and a stunningly long 12 ft. electrical cord – super handy when outlets are in short supply at the campsite! They are 5 1/2 inches tall, but still extremely lightweight, like miniature camping lanterns. They light they give off is surprisingly bright, but not enough to be glaring. The strings do come with a mix of bronze and silver lanterns, so don’t expect just one color.
Create antique style with these charming bronze house lantern string lights. Each string comes with 10 metal lantern shells that will give out warm white light. Each of these really cool little lanterns is 2.5 inches tall, making them absolutely perfect for hanging on the outside of your tent or camper awning.
These lights scream simple beauty and they also remind me of fireflies, which is precisely why they’re on this list. I mean, just look at how amazing they look all strung up! Each 13ft strand 40 globe lights on it, made out of plastic so they’re more durable. Perfect for outdoor use, and just like each set I’ve picked, lightweight enough to hang on a camper or tent. Also, probably the best bang for your buck on the list.
Need a little more style than your average camper? Then these should be on your list! They’re gorgeous sun design has a vintage and special feel to it, and casts fun light wherever they’re strung.
Back to the vintage feel, these Edison bulb string lights completely embody the vintage look. Personally, I could use Edison bulbs everywhere and never get tired of them. Each 25 foot long string has 25 mock Edison bulbs on it for even light, and strings can be connected end to end for a longer line of lights. They are made to withstand weather, so they’re just fine for camping, or even at home on the patio. These also come with a 1 year warranty.
I’m really leaning to towards either the Edison bulbs (above) or the simple firefly lights, but I need to make a decision soon because we’re going camping over the 4th of July and I want to have them by then!
I’ll be sure to update you with which set I buy + how I like them once we used them!
Which lights are your favorites? Any you would add to to list?
Til Next Time,
Gretchen
